Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and how to get it back or have it removed.

01

What we collect

To process an admission, teach a course and support a placement, AORE collects:

  • Identity: name, date of birth, gender, photograph
  • Contact: email address, phone number, postal address
  • Background: educational qualifications and employment history
  • Payment: transaction and banking details needed to take a fee
  • Technical: IP address, browser, device and cookie data
  • Preferences: location and language

02

Who we share it with

We share personal data only where it is needed to deliver what you have asked for, and only with:

  • Service providers who operate parts of the platform on our behalf
  • Employers, where you have asked to be considered for a role
  • Accreditation bodies, for certification and verification
  • Educational partners delivering a joint programme
  • Legal authorities, where the law requires it
  • Professional advisers, and any successor entity in a business transfer

03

How long we keep it

Academic records are retained for a minimum of ten years. That is deliberate: a certificate has to remain verifiable long after a student has moved on, and an employer checking a qualification in 2034 needs the record to still exist.

Other categories are kept only as long as they are needed for the purpose they were collected for.

04

Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
  • Ask us to delete data we no longer have a reason to keep
  • Object to a particular use of your data
  • Withdraw consent you have previously given
  • Ask for your data in a portable format

05

Certificate verification

Public certificate verification takes a certificate number and a date of birth, and returns only the holder's name, the qualification, the issue date and whether the certificate is still valid.

The date of birth is never stored in a readable form — it is held as a keyed hash, so the stored value cannot be reversed back to a date. The lookup is rate-limited so it cannot be used to enumerate certificate numbers.

06

Payment details

Bank account details for fee payment are shown on your invoice and inside your student account after you sign in. They are not published on a public page.

07

Age

AORE programmes are for applicants aged 18 and over. An applicant under 18 needs a parent or guardian's consent, given directly to the institute.
